The Gladstone Engineering Alliance are looking for 70 candidates who are willing to dedicate three days a week for six weeks to complete a Ready for Work Program.

The Ready for Work program will prepare 70 unemployed and underemployed people aged 17-24 to undertake Ready for Work activities.

What is Ready for Work?

Ready for Work is one of seven programs that form part of the Queensland Government's Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. Through a suite of targeted skills and training programs, Skilling Queenslanders for Work aims to improve the skills, employment opportunities and social inclusion of disadvantaged Queenslanders.

Program Overview.

Ready for Work allows community organisations to run courses of up to 6-8 weeks to assist young people to transition into the workforce by providing them with the practical skills they need to successfully find work.

Who does the program support?

Ready for Work primarily targets Queensland residents aged 17-24 years who either:

  • are ineligible for Australian Government employment services or assistance, or
  • require complementary services because they have significant barriers to learning and employment, or
  • have accessed Australian Government services for more than six months and remain unemployed.

Priority will be given to young people who have already left school or are undertaking further education and training.

The Ready for Work initiative is a non paid program.
