GEA expected to deliver millions of dollars of tender and procurement opportunities in 2019
THE Gladstone Engineering Alliance 2019 program of events begins next Thursday with proponents of the $400M Rodds Bay Solar Farm, Renew Estate, and Orica Yarwun highlighting their procurement, maintenance and shutdown plans for 2019/20 at the GEA February Industry Update.
Hosted by the Gladstone Engineering Alliance and proudly sponsored by One Source Valves, GEA acting chief executive officer Julie Gelder said Orica is a leading supplier of commercial explosives and innovative blasting systems throughout Australia and have significant investments within the Gladstone Region.
“Every year Orica give the opportunity to local contractors and suppliers to procure work with them and the industry update will inform GEA members and the wider community about those works,” Ms Gelder said.
“Orica Yarwun has maintenance and shut down planning scheduled for the next 10 years and will be presenting opportunities including information about their capital budget which is expected to provide another income stream for Gladstone locals.”
Orica’s presentation will be directly followed by Renew Estate. Delivered by Renew Estate Director Simon Currie, the presentation will highlight their expected procurement program in 2019/20.
“Renew Estate are currently building their database of local talent and service providers that will be passed onto their principal Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractor once appointed” Ms Gelder said.
The proposed Rodds Bay Solar Farm is a 300 MW solar farm project located near the township of Bororen, approximately 50km south of Gladstone, Queensland. The project is being developed by Renew Estate, the development organisation co-founded and funded by WIRSOL Energy Pty Ltd.
A solar farm of this size is expected to produce over 610 GWh of renewable energy each year, enough to power approximately 88’000 Australian homes.
The GEA's February Industry Update will host Orica & Renew Estate (Rodds Bay Solar Farm) at the Yaralla Sports Centre on February 14.
