Invest In You: Mental Health First Aid Training
WELCOME TO MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID AUSTRALIA
Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people the skills to help someone who they're concerned about.
What the course covers
Learn about the signs and symtoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert concensus of people with lived experience of menthal health problems and mental health professionals.
During the course you will have the opportunity to practice your new skills in a safe environment.
This is an education course, designed for participants to learn how to give mental health first aid to others, and is not a therapy or support group.
Please note this is a two day training workshop that runs from 8:30am - 4:00pm on April 21 and 22.
*Morning tea and lunch included.
